ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL SHOW
Written by Bryan Householder & Kirk Wise
Another successful Dirt Trackin' Show was held last
weekend at the York Expo Center. Promoter Kirk Wise filled
both wings of Memorial Hall with race cars and racing
related exhibits, with plenty of fans passing through during
the course of the weekend.
York county native Arynne Moody was named Ms Dirt Trackin'
in Friday evening's CarSoup.com sponsored competition which
also packed the hall. Judges included Late Model champion
Jake Jones, Larry Miller, Alyssa Sharmin, and a few others
who actually came up with racing scenarios that MC Kirk and
the contestant had to act out as part of the competition.
The crowd and judges were well amused.
Show judges selected best appearing car awards in seven
categories, and five teams won "People's Choice" awards, and
all received trophies from Giambalvo Motor Company.
In the Open Wheel category, which included sprints, 358
sprints, 305 sprints and super sportsman racers, the super
sportsman car of Dillsburg's Scott Dellinger was named the
winner. The late model category included late models,
limited late models and modifieds. Susquehanna Speedway park
champion Jake Jones was the winner in this group.
In the stock car group, which included street stocks,
thundercars, pure stocks, and various forms of mini stocks,
pure stock racer Charlie Pensinger took top honors. The mini
category included micro sprints, Legends cars and mini
modifieds, and the legends racer of York's Lucas Montgomery
was the winner. Another class of small cars that included go
carts and 1/4 midgets was won by the go cart of
Stewartstown's Nicole Whisler.
In the restored racer category, the newly restored coupe
that Brogue's Gary Wolford drove at the Reading Fairgrounds
in the early 1960's took top honors, while a miscellaneous
grouping went to a restored Ford pickup that was part of the
Ratco booth.
The People's Choice awards were voted on by donations from
the fans. Those generous fans donated $1322.21 to the York
County Racing Club's Injured Driver's Fund while selecting
five winners. The top honors went to the limited late model
of Chad McClelland, with the gocart of Jonathan Myers
getting second. Zach Eucalano's 358 sprint was third, with
Mike Mort's late model fourth and Mark Smith's sprint car
fifth.
Other events included singing from Jazz Me, Katie & the Gray
Beards, and the Baptones, PWE wrestling, and a live auction
the raised over $2000 for the John Westbrook Recovery Fund.
John was on hand for a lot of the show, with his prize
winning smile for all of his well wishers.
Plans are already being discussed for next year’s 2011 Dirt
Trackin’ Show with a chance to win a huge prize for all
attending drivers. Photos from the show and other
